Africa Alive’s brand new Home Education Programme is designed to inspire a lifelong love of animals and nature, while giving home-educating families the opportunity to connect, learn and explore science and wildlife through hands-on Discovery Sessions.
These sessions are led by experienced educators and give students the chance to discover the natural world and cover key concepts in primary and secondary science.
The programme also includes educational resources for use both in the zoo and at home, along with an annual pass providing unlimited access to the zoo for a whole year.
What's included
Designed for home-educating families, this package combines engaging zoo-based learning with year-round visits, interactive resources and expert-led sessions covering science, geography, conservation and wildlife.

Information
Sessions take place at Africa Alive on the first Thursday of every month. Please note: No sessions will run in August or January.
Sessions
topics
Sessions are suitable for children aged 5–15 years, with a younger-level session taking place in the morning and a higher-level session in the afternoon. Parents and carers can choose the session best suited to their child or speak with the Education Team for guidance.
All sessions explore biodiversity, classification, conservation, scientific vocabulary and practical skills, while each session also focuses in greater depth on a different science or geography topic.

Family Options
Additional children can be added at half price.
Adult Pass
Information
The adult annual pass is flexible and can be used by the accompanying parent/carer of the named child on the day of visit.
Existing
Pass Holders
Existing Annual Pass holders can attend sessions for £10 per session. Sessions must be booked in advance through Guest Services at: home.education@zsea.org
